Live Updates From Mid-Ohio: AMA Supersport Race 2

Dustin_Dom_MO_race_1_4The AMA Supersport riders will take to the Mid-Ohio track this afternoon for their second race of the weekend. Dustin Dominguez took the victory in race one, but the Triumph rider will have to fight off James Rispoli, Elena Myers, and Hayden Gillim if he wants to to make it two-in-a-row.

The Supersport riders will take to the track at 1:15.

All About Bikes will be at the track and will have live updates throughout the race.

The Supersport grid:

  • Dominguez - Rispoli - Gillim - Gaviria
  • Alexander - Myers - Puerta - Thornton
  • Kerr - Heiser - Stump - Dellinger

The AMA Supersport riders are on the grid. They'll head off for a warm-up lap before we start the second AMA Supersport race at Mid-Ohio.

And they're off!

Puerta gets off the line first, but Rispoli takes the lead as they come out of turn two.

Rispoli crosses the line with 6 bike lengths ahead of Dominguez.

Rispolie still holds the lead, but Dominguez is right behind him. Rispoli lead Dominguez for the first few laps of race 1, but wasn't able to keep Dominguez at bay. Will Rispoli be able to hold off Dominguez during race 2?

Behind the top two, we have Gaviria, Puerta, and Myers.

Dominguez takes the lead and crosses the line .2 seconds ahead of Rispoli.

In race 1, Dustin Dominguez was able to grow the gap once he took the lead from Rispoli, but "the rocket" seems determined to keep Dominguez in reach.

Gaviria goes down! Gaviria was running in third place but low-sided into the gravel. Gaviria is up, but third place is gone.

Dominguez goes down! Dominguez had about five bike lengths ahead of Rispoli but crashed out of the race. Dominguez is up and trying to get his bike back on the track.

It looked like Dominguez' front brakes locked up and threw him off the bike.

The third and second place riders have both gone down, leaving Rispoli alone at the front. Rispoli crosses the line with four seconds ahead of Puerta.

Tomas Puerta has taken over the second place spot. Hayden Gillim, Corey Alexander, and Elena Myers are fighting for third.

Stefano Mesa goes down! The back end slides out from under Mesa and bucks him off. Mesa is up, but he won't be rejoining the race.

Rispoli still has a big lead out front. Rispoli has 3.7 seconds ahead of Puerta.

10 laps to go: Rispoli - Puerta - Gillim - Alexander - Myers

Rispoli may be riding a little too relaxed now. Gillim has closed the gap down to less than two seconds.

Gillim is riding in second, followed by Puerta and Alexander. Elena Myers is in fifth, but she has fallen off the pace of the top four riders.

Gillim has cut the lead down to 1.9, then 1.5, and is now just .3 seconds behind. There are two laps left.

Gillim overtakes Rispoli on the final lap.

The riders are starting to hit a little lap traffic.

We have a battle up front as we head to the final stretch.

Hayden Gillim takes the win!

Rispoli held the lead for nearly the entire race, but Gillim was able to find his way around on the final lap to take the win.
