Chris Fillmore set a new lap record for the XR1200 class today at Mid-Ohio. Fillmore set a 1'36.219 time today to take the pole position, beating Danny Eslick's 2010 record of 1'36.658. Fillmore will be joined on the front row by Steve Rapp, Michael Barnes, and Kyle Wyman.
"It's going to be close tomorrow," Fillmore said. "I think I beat Steve by a thousandth of a second, so it will be close up front like always."
Wyman will also be looking to get into the mix during tomorrow's race. Wyman, who won during the opening round at Daytona, hasn't been back on the podium for a long time.
"It feels really good to get back on the front row," Wyman said, "It's been a little bit of drought for me."
Wyman, like Rapp and Fillmore, is pulling double duty this weekened by racing in a second series at Mid-Ohio.
"I think riding the 600 on Friday, and this morning, really helped me with the XR1200," Wyman said. "Just to get the track fresh in mind."
Michael Beck, Tyler O'Hara, Chase McFarland, and Michael Morgan will make up the second row.
