The first day of AMA Pro Road Racing action at Mid-Ohio is over and done with. Josh Hayes, Danny Eslick, and Dustin Dominguez are all sitting on the provisional pole positions, but the rest of the AMA field will be gunning for the top spot during the second qualifying sessions on Saturday.
Josh Hayes beat out Blake Young, Roger Hayden, and Tommy Hayden to claim the provisional pole position for the AMA Superbike riders. Hayes has taken all 5 pole positions this year, and is on pace to take his 6th tomorrow.
In the Daytona Sportbike series, Danny Eslick took the top spot. Eslick has won three out of the last four races at Mid-Ohio and certainly knows his way around the track.
"There are a lot of little tricks out there," Eslick said. "But I'm pretty comfortable with this track."
Dustin Dominguez was able to claim the provisional pole position for the AMA Supersport riders. Dominguez beat out James Rispoli and Hayden Gillim to claim the top spot on the timesheets.
