Danny Eslick set the pace at Mid-Ohio for the Daytona Sportbike riders during the first free practice session of the weekend. Eslick set a 1'30.936 laptime around the Ohio circuit, and was the only rider to dip below 1'31.
DiSalvo was the closest to Eslick's pace. DiSalvo held the top spot until the final lap of the free practice session when Eslick decided to turn up the heat and take the top spot by .7 seconds.
Josh Herrin was the next across the line. Herrin has won 4 of the last 5 races (the other win going to Eslick) and will be looking to take the points lead this weekend.
Dane Westby and Jake Holden completed the top 5.
