With a wet track, then a dry track, then a hot track in Alabama last weekend for the fifth round of the 2011 AMA Pro Road Racing season, it wasn’t surprising to see plenty of riders crash around the track. All About Bikes caught three of those crash sequences on camera.
Paul Allison - Daytona Sportbike - Yamaha R6
Paul Allison has been pretty consistent this season, but the Yamaha rider didn’t have his best outing at Barber Motorsports Park. Allison qualified in 10th for the Daytona Sportbike class, but couldn’t manage to keep his bike rubber side down during the race.
Allison didn’t earn any points at Road America and dropped out of the top 10 in the overall standings.
Dirk Sanchez - Daytona Sportbike - Ducati 848
Dirk Sanchez didn’t get his weekend off to the greatest start. Sanchez lost control of his bike during the first Daytona Sportbike race and watched as it did a couple of flips through the infield.
The Barber Motorsports Park event was Sanchez’ first attempt at a Daytona Sportbike race this year. Sanchez fared a little better in race two, scoring his first points of the season.
Dustin Dominguez - Supersport - Triumph Daytona 675R
If anyone has a proper excuse for letting their bike get away from them this weekend, it was Triumph rider Dustin Dominguez. Last weekend was only the second time that Dominugez had raced the Triumph Daytona 675R.
Dominguez tried the Triumph out at Road America and took home his first podium of the season. Dominguez didn’t do as well at Barber, but the young Supersport rider has definitely shown some potential. Dominguez crashed out of race 1, but came back in race two to score a 6th place finish. Dominguez is currently 5th in the overall standings for the Supersport West division.
