James Rispoli had a pretty good weekend at Barber Motorsports Park. The ANT Racing rider took two podium finishes in the AMA Supersport class, including a spectacular race 2 win. Rispoli now leads the east division of the AMA Supersport standings by 23 points ahead of Tomas Puerta.
But stepping up to the podium, twice, wasn’t the highlight of the weekend for James. Nope, the highlight was when he got his elbow to the pavement on turn 4 during the second race.
“It was the greatest feeling in the world,” Rispoli said. “I’ve never done that before. It was absolutely amazing.”
John Syzmanski, the AMA Pro Racing Director of Communications, was so impressed with Rispoli’s performance at Barber that he had to ask “the Rocket” if it was the greatest race in his career.
Rispoli smiled for a moment, then said: “It was pretty good. I was able to control the pace a little, and we walk away with the win. It was pretty good.”
