Herrin Edges Out Eslick for the DSB Win

Eslick_and_HerrinDanny Eslick led every lap during the second Daytona Sportbike race at Barber Motorsports Park today, except for the one that mattered. Josh Herrin made a last lap pass on Eslick and managed to take the checkers by .02 seconds.

“All I can say is I got beat,” Eslick said. “I led every lap and Josh was right behind me on all of them. I didn’t know where the attack was going to come from, but I knew it was going to come. But it was awesome, we had some great results this weekend.”

Eslick rode away with the race win in the first Daytona Sportbike race of the weekend, but Herrin was determined not to let that happen again.

“I just didn’t want Danny to get away,” Herrin said. “I didn’t know if he was pushing his hardest, or riding careful, so I was just trying to stay close to him.”

Herrin, who lost the points lead when he was forced to retire from the first race of the weekend with mechanical issues, made up some valuable points in the second race. But Herrin still wasn’t able to recapture the lead. Danny Eslick currently has the points lead in the Daytona Sportbike series. Eslick leads with 161 points. Herrin is just four points behind with 157.

Cameron Beaubier took the final spot on the podium ahead of Tommy Aquino and Taylor Knapp.
