Steve Rapp took the race win today in the XR1200 series at Barber Motorsports Park. Rapp, who started from the pole position, beat out Chris Filmore and Tyler O’Hara for the race win.
“We got a decent start,” Rapp said. “I made a couple of passes and just went as hard as I could without crashing.”
After a slow start, Rapp took the lead by the end of lap 1. Rapp would hold onto the lead until crossing the finishing line. It was Rapp's second win of the 2011 racing season.
“I just had to ride as fast as I could,” Rapp said. “It’s tough when you’re in the lead because you don’t know what’s coming behind you. But if you ride a clean race, it’s pretty hard to get past you.”
Filmore trailed Rapp throughout the race, but didn’t have enough speed to pass on the final lap.Filmore would finish the race .15 seconds behind Rapp.
