Live Updates From Barber Motorsports Park: Daytona Sportbike Race 2

Dane_WestbyThe Daytona Sportbike riders are gearing up for the second race of the weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. Danny Eslick will be looking to do the double today in Alabama, while Josh Herrin will be looking to make up some points after a DNF in race 1.

Corey West took control of the points after the first Daytona Sportbike race. Herrin, who entered Barber with the points lead, had to retire from the first race with a mechanical problem.

Eslick took his first victory of the season during the first race at Barber, but he’s sure to have a few challengers during race 2. Herrin, for one, will be pushing for a race win this afternoon. Jason DiSalvo will also be looking to return to the podium. DiSalvo won the first three races of the season, but the Latus Ducati hasn’t stepped up to the podium in the last few races.

The Daytona Sportbike riders will start their second race at 2:15. All About Bikes will be giving live updates throughout the race.

The Daytona Sportbike riders are on the grid.

And They're Off!

The top riders are all grouped up at the front. Eslick, Herrin, Jacobsen, DiSalvo, West, Aquino, are all vying for the top spot.

Eslick takes the lead by the end of lap 1. The riders fall back into a single file line down the stretch.

Danny Eslick and Josh Herrin have separated a bit from the pack. Eslick leads the way but Herrin is close behind.

Eslick crosses the line .025 seconds ahead of Herrin.

Eslick and Herrin have about a second over the rest of the Daytona Sportbike pack.

Westby joins the top two at the front. Eslick, Herrin, and Wetby lead the Daytona Sportbike field.

Lap 5: Eslick - Herrin - Westby p Aquino - Jacobsen - West - Beaubier - DiSalvo - Knap - Turner

The top three riders have a second over fourth place rider Tommy Aquino. The leaders are lapping in the mid 1'31s.

Eslick continues to hold the lead. Cameron Beaubier has made his way to the front group. Se now have four riders riding within .11 seconds of one another.

Dane Westby is down! Westby was riding in second place when he lost the front end. Westby will be riding his bike back to the pits.

Eslick now leads a group of three at the front. Eslick has Herrin and Beaubier riding in his shadow.

We have another rider down! Corey West, the points leader, takes his bike into the dirt. West is up and OK, but he'll lost the points lead if Eslick or Herrin can cross the line with points.

Kris Turner was making a run up at the front but goes wide. Turner drops from 5th to 8th.

Eslick holds on to the top spot. Eslick crosses the line with .16 seconds ahead of Herrin.

Lap 12: Eslick - Herrin - Beaubier - Aquino - Knapp - Turner - DiSalvo - Long - Ohara

The top three riders are riding single file down the track. Tommy Aquino puts on some speed and joins the top three up front.

Herrin makes his way back into second. Fifth place rider Knapp is just a few seconds behind the leaders.

Beaubier nearly loses it through the chicane. Beaubier is now in fourth behind Aquino.

With just three laps remaining, someone is going to have to make a move on Eslick soon. It looks like that man is going to be Josh Herrin. Herrin is riding wheel to wheel behind Eslick.

Eslick crosses the line .03 seconds ahead of Herrin. Aquino and Beaubier are also well within striking distance.

Lap 19: Eslick - Herrin - Aquino - Beaubier - Knapp - Turner - DiSalvo - Long - OHara - Odom

The white flag is out. One more lap to go. If anyone is going to make a move they'll have to do it soon.

Herrin takes the lead.

Eslick tries to take it back down the straight but falls .022 seconds short at the checkers.
