It was an all Suzuki podium at Barber Motorsports Park today for the Daytona Sportbike series. Danny Eslick claimed the win, his first this season, ahead of Dane Westby and Cory West.
Eslick battled at the beginning with the likes of Westby, West, and DiSalvo, but was eventually able to put a comfortable gap between himself and his competitors.
“I just didn’t want to do anything crazy and screw it up,” Eslick said. “I was just watching the pit board. I kept seeing different numbers in 2nd so I knew they were racing pretty hard. We made a couple of mistakes up front, but it means a lot to get this win.”
The other big news of the race came early in the race when Josh Herrin was forced to retire. Herrin was the points leader heading into Barber, but his DNF hands the points lead over to Cory West.
“I knew Josh was out, so I didn’t want to risk anything,” West said. “Now we have the points lead, which is great. I’m glad to grab another podium and we’ll be pushing hard again tomorrow.”
