James “The Rocket” Rispoli captured the AMA Supersport pole position today at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. Rispoli will be joined on the front row by Travis Wyman, Benny Solis, and Corey Alexander.
Rispoli finished the first qualifying session outside of the top five, but really picked up the pace today during Q2.
“We had a little trouble yesterday getting up to speed,” Rispoli said. “But we got it up to a good race pace today. It’s going to be hard to break away from these guys, but we’re just going to keep pushing.”
Rispoli set a 1’30.752 lap time around the Barber Motorsports Park. Travis Wyman, who was the closest to Rispoli’s pace, was .7 seconds behind.
“I wasn’t really expecting that (to finish .7 seconds ahead of the pack)” Rispoli said. “We were just riding smooth. Hopefully we can ride out front tomorrow.”
