Corey Alexander set the pace at Barber Motorsports Park today, taking the provisional pole position at the end of the first qualifying session. Alexander beat out David Gaviria and Benny Solis with a 1’31.581 lap time.
Alexander was able to take the provisional pole today despite a crash after his 12th lap.
“We came in to put on a new tire, then I went out and did one fast lap,” Alexander said. “After that I went into two, and there was a little seepage from the water coming up. So I just sat there for about 12 minutes and hoped that no one could top me.”
David Gaviria would come closest to beating Alexander’s time, but Gaviria fell short by .4 seconds.
Benny Solis took third for the day, and was followed by Travis Wyman, Tomas Puerta, and Dustin Dominguez. The top six riders finished within a second of the leader.
