Travis Wyman led the opening free practice session for the AMA Supersport riders today at Barber Motorsports park. Wyman set a 1’34.912 lap time to top the time sheets today, beating out Stefano Mesa and Travis Ohge.
Wyman, who is coming off of a fantastic weekend at Road America where he took his maiden Supersport victory, was the only rider to drop below the 1’35 mark. Mesa was the closest to Wyman’s pace, but Mesa finished .4 seconds behind the leader.
Ohge was the only other rider who finished within a second of Wyman. Tomas Puerta, who finished fourth, was 1.3 seconds adrift of the leader.
James Rispoli, Elena Myers, Benny Solis, and Corey Alexander will have to found some speed on the drying Barber circuit if they want to keep pace with the leaders.
The clouds are beginning to part over Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. The Supersport riders should have a dry, quick track this afternoon during their first qualifying session.
