It was a hot day in Wisconsin as the AMA Pro Racing series headed to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for the fourth round of the season at Road America. Josh Herrin, Blake Young, and David Gaviria battle all scored race wins today during an entertaining day of racing.
David Gaviria took the win in the AMA Supersport division. Gaviria was battling with Tomas Puerta during the beginning of the race, but a mechanical failure sent Puerta to the paddock early. Gaviria would ride to victory by more than a second ahead of Travis Wyman and James Rispoli. (Check out the AMA Supersport race report here.)
Josh Herrin also got some help from a competitor crash. Jason DiSalvo, who had scored the pole position, ran wide on the second lap and brought his bike into the sand. DiSalvo would have to watch from the sidelines as Herrin took a full 25 points to bring himself within 12 points of the season leader. (Check out the AMA Daytona Sportbike race report here.)
The AMA Superbike race was the most entertaining of the weekend so far. Pole sitter Josh Hayes and Miller Motorsports Park winner Blake Young went back and forth throughout the day, swapping the top spot at least a dozen times. Young would eventually cross the line in first, beating Hayes to the finish line for the second consecutive race. (Check out the AMA Superbike race report here.)
The AMA Supersport, Daytona Sportbike, and AMA Superbike riders will all get one more shot at glory at the Road America Double Header.
