David Gaviria took the first win of the weekend, beating out Travis Wyman and James Rispoli at Road America.
Gaviria led for the majority of the race. At the beginning, he was battling for first with pole sitter Tomas Puerta, but a mechanical error sent Puerta into the dirt. Once Puerta went down, Gaviria was able to extend his lead over James Rispoli and Travis Wyman.
Wyman and Rispoli, however, were never able to get any breathing room. The two swapped spots and stayed within a second of each other throughout the race. Wyman would take control with just a few laps to go, and Rispoli didn’t have enough in the tank to close the gap.
“I have to thank Monster for giving me the energy for this race,” Rispoli said. “I guess they just didn’t give me enough energy.”
Behind the top three riders, came Corey Alexander and Benny Solis.
