The grids are set at Road America. The AMA Supersport, Daytona Sportbike, and AMA Superbike riders have just finished up their second qualifying sessions and are now getting ready for the first races of the day.
Tomas Puerta, Jason DiSalvo, and Josh Hayes are all sitting pretty as each rider took the pole position in their respected divisions.
Puerta was able to hold onto his quick time set during the first Supersport qualifying session, as nearly the entire field failed to better their times. Puerta was beat out in the second qualifying session by David Gaviria, who should challenge for the race win this weekend.
Benny Solis couldn’t find his way to the top during qualifying, but the Honda rider has been a constant fixture to the podium for the Supersport series. Solis didn’t show it today during qualifying, but he could find the speed this afternoon. (Check out the Supersort Qualifying Results Here.)
Jason DiSalvo took his third consecutive pole position today. DiSalvo has been a dominant rider in the Daytona Sportbike series, earning three consecutive wins to start the season. But the Ducati rider proved beatable at Miller Motorsports Park, where Josh Herrin took the win.
DiSalvo is still the man to beat today, but Herrin, Danny Eslick, and PJ Jacobsen will work to keep DiSalvo from running away with his fourth victory. (See the Daytona Sportbike Qualifying Results Here.)
In the AMA Superbike class, the clear favorite is Josh Hayes. Hayes earned his fourth pole position today with a new lap record. Hayes, however, has only converted one of those pole positions to a race win.
Hayes will likely lead the race, as he has for most of the season, but Blake Young and Tommy Hayden will be there to make a final push for the finish line. But with Hayes on a record setting pace, it might be hard for the Suzuki boys to keep up. (See the Superbike Qualifying Results Here.)
