Jason DiSalvo took another pole position today at Road America. The Ducati rider set a 2’20.411 lap time around the Wisconsin circuit today to beat out Josh Herrin, PJ Jacobsen, and Danny Eslick for the first spot on the grid.
DiSalvo, who won the first three races of the season but lost out to Josh Herrin at Miller Motorsports Park, was .4 seconds ahead of his competitors during the second qualifying session. But DiSalvo knows that the long straights at Road America can lead to late race lead changes.
“There are a couple big opportunities for the guys in second and third place to suck back up on us,” DiSalvo said. “The gaps can be erased really easily on the long straights. So I’m ready for the race to play out a couple of different ways. That’s the beauty of racing, you never know until you line it up.”
Josh Herrin took the second spot on the grid. Herrin took his first win of the season at Road America, and really looks like he’s hitting his stride. Herrin also took a win at Road America last year, and will be looking to build on his success this weekend.
“I usually struggle a bit in qualifying, so I’m pretty happy to be up here,” Herrin said. “It looks like we have a good race set up, so we should be able to run up front with these four guys. I’m pretty excited to go into this race. Last year was pretty good for me so I’m looking forward to the race.”
Pj Jacobsen and Danny Eslick will take the remaining spots on the front row.
