Josh Hayes will be leading from the front of the grid during tomorrow’s AMA Superbike race. Hayes has scored every pole position so far this season, but has only been able to convert one of those pole positions into a race win.
Hayes and the other Superbike riders lost about 15 seconds on the wet track today, but were able to work on settings for the race tomorrow, which will most likely be run under similar conditions.
Chris Peris was the quickest rider in the wet. Peris will be starting from the back of the second row during the race, but the BMW rider was more than a second quicker than Hayes during the final qualifying session, and should be able to keep pace during tomorrow’s race.
“Peris could be up there tomorrow,” Hayes said. “There are a lot of riders that could step up their games tomorrow and give the three of us (Hayes, Hayden, and Young) a challenge.”
Blake Young, Tommy Hayden, and Roger Hayden will be joining Hayes on the front row tomorrow due to their Q1 qualifying times. Tommy Hayden was fifth quickest today in the wet, one spot ahead of Young, while Roger put in another solid qualifying session to finish in third behind Peris and Hayes in Q2.
“It’s a lot of fun to be riding at the front again,” said Roger Hayden, who raced the 2010 season in the World Superbike class.
Here are the starting positions for tomorrow’s AMA Superbike race.
Row 1: Hayes / Young / T. Hayden / R. Hayden
Row 2: Pegram / Cardenas / Beach / Peris
Row 3: May / Anthony / Clark / Rapp
The AMA Superbike race will be tomorrow at 2 pm.
