DiSalvo Does the Double at Infineon

Jason DiSalvo went two for two at Infineon this weekend. DiSalvo beat out Danny Eslick and Josh Herrin for his second win at Sonoma track.

DiSalvo has won every Daytona Sportbike race so far this season. The Latus Ducati rider won the Daytona 200, then did the double this weekend. It is the first time in DiSalvo’s career that he has ever won three consecutive races.

“Never, I’ve never won three races in a row,” DiSalvo said. “I won two in a row, but in different categories in 2004 at VIR. But this is the first time I’ve ever won three races in a row.”

DiSalvo was challenged early by Jake Holden, but a wild crash sent Holden to the infield medical center. Holden broke his pinkie and had to retire from the race.

Shortly after Holden’s crash the race was red flagged for rain. But the light drizzle only halted the race for a few minutes. On the restart DiSalvo and Herrin shot down the track. Herrin took the lead but couldn’t keep DiSalvo at bay. DiSalvo took the lead at lap nine and slowly started to build the gap.

DiSalvo kept setting better lap times as he eventually extended his lead to four seconds over Eslick.

Josh Herrin was the final rider to find the podium today. Herrin was given a one race suspension after an incident at the Daytona 200, and was happy to make up some points at Infineon.

“I was just happy to be racing,” Herrin said. “You know there was a racing incident at Daytona, but I’m ready to move past that and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season."
