Benny Solis continued to set the pace on a cold morning at Infineon. Solis was the only rider to dip into the 1’42s, and will lead the grid during the AMA Supersport race this afternoon.
Solis will be joined on the front row by David Gaviria, Corey Alexander, and Tomas Puerta. Gaviria, Alexander, and Puerta were the only riders to finish in the 1’43s, and will likely be Solis’ main competition tomorrow.
Gaviria and Puerta have already proven that they can win at the Supersport level, as both riders took victory at Daytona during the first event of the 2011 AMA Supersport season.
“It will be a tough race,” Solis said. “Both of the Daytona winners are right behind me. It will be fun.”
Travis Ohge, Wyatt Farris, Greg McCullough, and Sebastiao Ferreira will start on the second row.
Elena Myers, who won her historic race last year at Infineon has withdrawn from the race. Myers broke her wrist a few weeks ago and will not race this weekend.
