Austin Dehaven to Race 2011 European Superstock 600 Championship

Austin_Dehaven2010 AMA Supersport champion Austin Dehaven has just landed a new gig. Dehaven has just signed with Team Trasimeno Yamaha to race in the 2011 European Superstock 600 Championship.

Dehaven, just 16, will be one of the youngest riders in the European Superstock 600 this year, and he'll also be the lone American.

"After the test in November I really felt I got along with the team well," said Austin. "Their bike was set up very well and the team is top notch all the way. But I knew moving to Europe and racing over there would be very difficult.

"Somehow though, the team really pushed and helped my family and I put it all together. I am very excited about my future, both with the team and within the Superbike paddock.

It's a big move for the young man from Northridge, California, but he'll have some familiar faces helping him along the way. Dehaven's long time coach Keith Code, as well as a few members from the California Superbike School, will be in Europe to support Dehaven.

"It's all happened so fast though that my head is still sort of spinning, as we just got all the contracts signed in the last few weeks," Dehaven said. "We still need to secure a few more sponsors before seasons end, sell off my bike and trailer here in the states before I leave for Rome."
