The AMA Supersport division can be hard to keep track of. There is the Young Gun Division, the Top Gun Division, and the Young Gun is divided further into the East and West Divisions. AMA Supersport may be confusing, but it's still exciting, and the best of the best will be at the Virginia International Raceway this weekend.
The Young Gun Division is made up of up-and-coming riders. Where as the Top Gun division consists of riders that have earned an Expert Level Liscense from a recognized racing organization. Each divisision has been filled with competitive racing so far.
In the Young Gun West, Joey Pascarella has already clinched the title. His win at Mid-Ohio put him in an uncatchable position. Elena Myers, who made history by becoming the first woman to win an AMA Supersport race, will finish second in the West Division.
J.D. Beach leads the Supersport division from the East. Beach has five wins this year, but he is being closely followed by Cameron Beaubier, who has two wins of his own. Unfortunately, Beaubier injured himself at Infineon Raceway, and won't be participating at VIR.
