The Budds Creek AMA Motorcross is underway and Andrew Short is now in control. Short took the holeshot in the first moto, and gradually lengthened his lead throughout the race. Short crossed the checkered flags five seconds ahead of Mike Alessi, who had to fend off Chad Reed, Brett Metcalfe, and Ryan Dungey.
Dungey, who has won the last four motos, couldn't get his bike passed Alessi, but did manage to pass up Reed who had a mishap on the second lap. Dungey would finish third in the first moto, one place ahead of the defending champ. Josh Grant ran a solid race to land him in the top five,
Davi Millsaps suffered a bad crash in the first moto, and had to be carted off the track. Grant Langston and Tommy Hahn also hit the dirt during moto 1.
In the 250 class, Christophe Pourcel took the moto 1 win after playing catch up to Eli Tomac who took the holeshot off the line.
