After a slow start to the season, Ryan Dungey has taken four consecutive wins. Dungey did the double at Freestone, then followed up his pair of maiden AMA Motocross wins with another Double at the High Point raceway.
Dungey took the holeshot in race one, but fell back behind Josh Grant before the end of the first lap. Dungey and Grant battled out in front until Grant took a spill on lap 13, and created a 7 second gap between Dungey and the rest of the pack.
Dungey rode to his first victory of the night,10 seconds over Grant and Andrew Short.
Short looked like he was going to get his revenge in the second moto, holding an 8 second lead over Dungey at the halfway point. But by the penultimate lap, Dungey had taken the lead, and eventually the win, for his second double of the season.
Defending Champion and season leader going into last night's race, Chad Reed, had two poor results at High Point. A 13th place finish in race one, and a braking issue in race two which caused him to fall to the back of the pack, opened the door for Dungey to take the lead in the overall standings.
Dungey sits with 126 points, 25 more than Brett Metcalfe.
