Hayden Edges Out Hayes for AMA SBK Win

ama_sbk_haydenSaturday's AMA Pro Racing Superbike race around the Road America track came down to a photo finish between Makita Yoshimura Suzuki's Tommy Hayden and Team Graves Yamaha's Josh Hayes. Hayes got the better of Hayden, taking the race 1 win by a miniscule .001 seconds. At race 2 around the Elkhart Lake track, it was Hayden and Hayes again at the checkers, but Hayden took the win this time, by .17 seconds.

Race two played out similarly to race one. Hayes took the hole shot off the line, and established an early lead. Hayden followed, and didn't make a move until the end of the race. Hayes held the lead until the 8th turn on the final lap. When Hayden went wide at turn 14, Hayes was able to pull far enough ahead to capture his second career AMA superbike win.

Jake Zemke, for National Guard Jordan Suzki, finished out the podium in third.

Hayden takes the lead in the overall standings by just one point ahead of Hayes. Zemke sits in 3rd with 215, just 14 points back behind the leader.
