Heavy rains and strong winds delayed the races at Road America today. When the clouds broke, and the riders took off around the track in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, another furious battle for the championship began.
Huntley Nash was in the hunt throughout, but Nash swapped positions multiple times with teammate Tomas Puerta and race one winner, J.D. Beach.
The race was anybody's to win going into the final stretch, but Nash put on the speed to edge out Beach by .2 seconds, to take his first AMA supersport win.
"It feels so good," Nash said. "I don't even know what to say, because I didn't think it would come this soon."
Beach's second place finish helps to extend his lead in the overall standings, while Puerta's third closes the gap between himself and Nash.
Beach currently leads with 139 points, while Beaubier is in second with 118. Beaubier has no breathing room, however, with Puerta just a point behind, and Nash just one more behind Puerta.
Elana Myers never found her groove on the Road America track. Elana crashed for the second day in a row, scoring no points at Road America.
