AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike racer Josh Herrin proved why he in the title race with a remarkable race day around the Road America track. Herrin, who earned the pole position Saturday morning, used his advantage to edge out rival Steve Rapp by 8 thousandths of a second.
The Daytona Sportbike saw early leaders Cory West, Chris Fillmore, and Dane Westby drop out of the race. West with mechanical problems, and Filmore and Westby with crashes, leaving Herrin, Rapp, and Martin Cardenas battling for the win.
Cardenas, who has had a few crashes this season, managed to maintain the pace to finish in third. He was followed by Clinton Seller.
Danny Eslick, who has had a terrific season so far, took his worst finish of the year in fifth.
