Holding off Josh Hayes by 0.136 of a second, Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Blake Young took the win at Race 2 in Road Atlanta, leading all 20 laps. Starting from pole position, Young moved to third in the AMA Superbike Championship after winning both races during Round 3.
Hayes gave Young quite a fight though, the Team Graves Yamaha rider keeping within striking distance throughout the race. Hayes initially won Race 1, but the Daytona Motorsports Group amended the official results due to a jumped start, placing him in sixth.
Rounding out the podium was Young’s teammate Tommy Hayden. The Kentuckian finished 16.986 seconds behind Young.
Finishing 1.384 seconds behind Hayden for fourth was National Guard Jordan Suzuki rider Jake Zemke. His 3-4 finishes at Road Atlanta, along with his double wins in Daytona keep him the leader in points with 145, just four points ahead of Hayden in second, and 15 ahead of Young.
Although he ran off the track early in the race, M4 Monster Suzuki rider John Hopkins still took fifth after battling with Foremost Ducati rider Larry Pegram and Suzuki rider Taylor Knapp. Pegram finished in sixth, Knapp in seventh.
