AMA: Ex World Superbike Champion Neil Hodgson joins Corona Honda
Neil Hodgson will race for the factory-supported Corona Honda team in the 2009 AMA American Superbike series.
The 2003 World Superbike Champion will be joined by his crew from the now-defunct American Honda factory team. Hodgson was contracted to American Honda for the 2009 season and rode the team’s CBR1000RR in the AMA Pro Racing tire test in December before American Honda decided shut down its factory team. Hodgson’s best time was a second faster than any other American Superbike rider.
Neil demonstrated when he rode for us in 2007 that he has the talent, the determination and the experience to race up front with the best and compete for the American Superbike Championship aboard the Corona Extra Honda Racing CBR1000RR superbike,” says Tim Saunders, Corona Honda team principal. “We are pleased to acquire the services of some of Neil’s former American Honda Racing crew members to further strengthen our team. Neil’s quest to earn the American Superbike championship title is now definitely on track.”
