Harley-Davidson is an iconic American company, but that doesn't mean Harleys aren't appreciated around the world. Harley-Davidson just produced 100 limited edition motorcycles to celebrate the Republic of China's Centennial.
Focus Taiwan reports that the new Harleys are engraved with the Chinese characters for "Harley" and "Peace."
Tung Teh-wang, a board member of Harley's local agent Swire Pacific LTD, said:
"This is the first time that Harley-Davidson has ever designed and produced a limited edition for a single country."
Harley will be creating the limited edition ROC Centennial bikes from several classic models, including the Softail, Fat Boy, and Road King. Each of the motorcycles are being designed to reflect the fusion of east and west cultures.
Harley started selling motorcycles in Taiwan in 2008, and since then they have sold more than 1000 motorcycles.
"Our motorcycles have enjoyed brisk sales in Taiwan, even better than in China. We believe the annual sales would reach 1,000 in the next five years," Teh-Wang said.
