MV Agusta Chairman, Claudio Castiglioni, Dies at 63 Hot

MV Agusta Chairman Claudio Castiglioni DiesThe motorsports world lost a legend today with the death of Claudio Castiglioni. Castiglioni passed away this morning in Varese, Italy. He was 63-years-old.

Castiglioni was linked to some of the most beautiful Italian bikes ever created. He was the founder of Cagiva, a former owner of Ducati, and was the man responsible for reviving MV Agusta. Castiglioni helped create legendary Italian motorcycles like the MV F4, the MV Brutale, the Ducati 916 and the Ducati Monster.

Castiglioni's motorcycles didn't just look good, they performed beautifully as well. Under Castiglioni's eye,  Cagiva took a road racing Grand Prix victory with the Caviga 500. Caviga also won in the Paris-Dakar with the Elefant.

Castiglioni is also responsible for getting Ducati involved in the World Superbike championship, which has resulted in numerous titles aboard his 851, 888, and 916 machines.

Claudio's son, Giovanni, has been running the company in recent months.
