The Harley-Davidson Iron 883 Hot

Harley Davidson: Riding into the Heart of Darkness, the Iron 883 relies on the rebellious minimalist style, but with a price tag the younger generation of riders can afford.

The Harley-Davidson Iron 883 was built with two major goals in mind: attract a younger audience and a low price point. With its dark, blacked-out style beckoning to the old Bobber days of the Greatest Generation, attracting today’s younger generation is not a problem. And at $7,899, the 883 is economic friendly, especially for a Harley-Davidson. Also, the Iron 883 is offered through The Motor Company’s “Ride Free” trade-in guarantee program; if you purchased any ’08 or ’09 Sportster (excluding XR-1200) before March 31, 2009 and trade it within a year of purchase, the full MSRP will be credited towards any Dyna, Softail, VRSC or Touring model. Not bad at all, right?

But don’t think Harley skimped on technology. With Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) and performance tuning with a broad torque curve, the black powder-coated 883 Evolution delivers plenty of power. Similar to the top-selling Nightster 1200 with its old-school fenders, combination stoplight/turn signals and side-mount license plate, the Iron 883 is the ultimate entry-level Harley.

Featuring a super-low 25.3-inch solo seat (a passenger seat with backrest is an option), black 13-spoke cast wheels, a 150mm rear tire and shorty dual pipes for that distinctive V-Twin sound, this Sportster continues the rebellious tradition of Harley with their popular minimalist design. Only available in two colors, Black Denim or Brilliant Silver Denim, the Iron 883 also gets a darker-suited presence with black front forks and fender supports, classic 3.3 gal. fuel tank, oil tank cover, belt guard, drag style handlebar and mid mount foot controls.

“The Iron 883 defies the plastic conventions of other motorcycles at this price,” says Mark-Hans Richer, Harley-Davidson Chief Marketing Officer. “It’s got old school style, a new school ride and gives the owner a platform for creative customization.”
