In order to stop congress from passing a law that would ban youth ATVs and motorcycles, the AMA started the Kids Just Want to Ride campaign. The campaign asked for kids to submit videos urging congress to stop the ban on youth motorcycles.
The AMA awarded first place went to the Malcolm family of Littleton Colorado. Erin, 11, Adi, 7, and Carter, 5, will be the guests of honor at the AMA Family Capitol Hill Climb on May 26th. Here’s there video.
Second prise went to the Negron family of Los Alamitos, California. Faith, 10, and Ellis, 7, will receive a $500 BikeBandit.com gift card. Here’s the Negron’s video.
Third prize went to the Cameron Reed of Denham Springs, Louisiana. Reed will receive a $100 gift card to BikeBandit.com. Here’s Reed’s video.
“The AMA sponsored the Kids Just Want to Ride! video contest to show how real children, and real families, will suffer when the de facto ban on the sale of kids’ dirtbikes and ATVs goes into effect at the end of the year unless federal law is changed,” said Jessica Irving, AMA grassroots coordinator. “Lawmakers need to see first-hand the faces of the children who will be hurt by the lead law — the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008. That law must be changed with the passage of H.R. 412, the Kids Just Want to Ride Act.”
