Last week Indian Motorcycle got a new owner with Polaris Industries, and now the iconic company has a new home. Indian, the oldest motorcycle manufacturer in the United States, will be moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Indian, which is currently located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, will join the plant in Spirit Lake which also produces Victory Motorcycles.
The Omaha World Herald reports that Polaris will be shutting down Indian’s manufacturing plant in Kings Mountain within the next two or three months, and moving the company to Iowa. It’s unclear at this time if the 25 employees at Indian will be making the move to Spirit Lake as well.
According to Kneeslider, Polaris has added 100 employees in the last year, and with the acquisition of Indian, it’s likely that they will continue to build on their workforce.
Indian Motorcycles have become a bit of a rarity in recent years, but with Polaris behind them, Indian could be seeing a nice revival in the next few years.
