Honda Gives Video Preview of New 2012 Honda Goldwing [Video] Hot

2012_Honda_GoldwingHonda has been perfecting their legendary touring motorcycle, the Goldwing, for more than 35 years. But they aren't done improving on the already iconic bike. Honda has made a few cool improvements on the 2012 Goldwing. Huge focus on new technology...

First off, the 2012 Goldwing has a more aggressive look to it, but Honda has still managed to add in some more luggage space. The 2012 model also has improved upon their navigation system, making it easier to upload trips from your home computer. The 2012 Goldwing also has an improved audio system and added integrated iPod connectivity.

"Long acknowledged as the pinnacle of two-up motorcycling, the 2012 Gold Wing® continues its remarkable legacy," Honda said in a press release. "Its travel-oriented creds include the latest generation of sophisticated electronic amenities, starting with an updated and innovative GPS navigation system with user-friendly programmability for sharing favorite ride routes with friends and other riders, which can be accessed online via computer.

"The Gold Wing also now incorporates a built-in MP3/iPod® interface for a new SRS CS Auto™ technology surround-sound system for a premium listening experience. In addition to its renowned power-laden yet refined drivetrain and delightfully sporty handling, the 2012 Gold Wing also brings upgraded styling, increased luggage capacity, greater protection from wind and weather, revised suspension settings for enhanced ride compliance, and unparalleled comfort for both rider and passenger."

The 2012 Goldwing will be available in May of 2011 with a base price of about $23,200. But if you can't wait to get a look at the new Goldwing, here's a video from Honda.

I find the update rather disappointing. The GW is simply outdated. In the vid Honda claims the GW to be the top of the food chain. I always thought this was the shark, but not the whale (with a five-speed transmission...). Funny that BMW seem to have the same thought (see end of K 1600 product mgmt. interview on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEPVs_NdPZw )

When is Honda going to authorize Garmin to release current upgrade maps for the Goldwing. I have a 2008 Goldwing and the latest update is a 2008. What gives? I've called Honda and they blame it on Garmin. I just got off the phone with Garmin and they inform me it's Honda. I'm so disatisfied with the OEM Nav system not being able to upgrade to current maps that I'll never buy another factory nav. from Honda until they fix the problem.
