The future of two-wheel mobility is all about electricity, and Zero Motorcycles is leading the way. Zero is the global leader when it comes to electric motorcycles, and they are planning to double their production capacity in 2011. Zero plans to build a new motorcycle facility next to their corporate headquarters in Santa Cruz County, which will double their production capacity.
“With this exciting new expansion, we reconfirm our commitment to building the best electric motorcycles in the world as well as creating U.S. based manufacturing jobs”, said Steve Salyer, Vice President of Operations for Zero Motorcycles. “Quality Control at the highest levels means personally inspecting each bike as it comes off the assembly line. Moreover, in the spirit of continual improvement and innovation, we believe that having our manufacturing and engineering teams collaborating within the same space gives us both an operational and developmental competitive advantage.”
With the R&D and manufacturing facility sitting side by side, Zero Motorcycles hopes to streamline the inclusion of new technology into their motorcycles. The new facility not only shows that Zero is dedicated to staying ahead of the curve, but also that customer demand for electric motorcycles is growing.

Zero is hoping that the new 34,000 square foot facility will be up and running shortly, with the first motorcycle rolling off the line by late February 2011.
