MIC Releases 2010 Sale Numbers

In 2009, motorcycle sales saw a drastic drop. Close to 360,000 fewer motorcycles were sold in 2009 as compared to 2008, and sales are still on the decline. The Motorcycle Industry Council has just released the numbers for 2010, and the report shows that sales dropped another 15.8%.

There were 82,198 fewer motorcycles sales sold in 2010, for a total of 439,678 motorcycle sold this year. If you break it down into category, off-road, dual-sport, highway, and scooters all saw a decrease in sales this year. Scooters fared the best, with their numbers only dipping 9.4%. Off-road bikes saw the biggest decrease in sales, dropping 23.3%.

ATV sales didn't fare too well either. The ATV market dipped 29% during 2010.

Not all manufacturers are included in the MIC's data, but Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson, Victory, BMW, Ducati, KTM and Triumph and Can-Am all give data to the MIC.
