MV Agusta loves its new F3 motorcycle. When you hear the company talking about the bike, you'll here words like "the F3 sets the standard for all other suepersport motorcycles," or that the F3 "marks the beginning of a new era." But can you really blame MV Agusta for being a little smug? I mean look at this thing. The MV Agusta F3 is truly a "work of art on two wheels."
The F3 was designed by the CRC, the Caviga Research Center, which has been behind beauties like the Ducati 916, the MV Agusta Brutale, and the F3's big brother the MV Agusta F4. When these people set out to make a motorcycle, they try to make a bike that will change the way that people think about the industry. And with the F3, they succeeded.
"The engine is the most compact, incredible short and narrow engine ever seen in this category," MV said. "The powerplant is incredibly modern in design, technologically advanced and capable of generating the most power ever seen in this category. One of the numerous technical features is the counter-rotating crankshaft, never before seen on a production supersport engine.”
The inline 675cc three cylinder engine is an homage to MV's rich racing history. MV won 10 of its 37 titles with a three cylinder engine, and with the F3, could possibly add to that total. The three cylinder engine gives the F3 a lighter weight, a more aerodynamic design, while still giving the bike an unbelievable amount of power.
Even though the F3 has been showcased at the EICMA and various international motorcycle shows, the exact specs of the bike are not known. So just how compact is the F3? Here is a graphic from Hell for Leather that shows the F3's estimated size.

The bike in the background is the F4, and you can see that the F3 is considerably smaller. The amount of power and technology that they packed into this miniature package is truly an amazing feat. CEO Giovanni Castiglioni says that it is the smallest supersport bike ever produced.
For the moment it's just speculation, but I'll take Castiglioni's word for it. The specs, and the price, should be announced soon.
