The 2009 Aprilia RSV4 packs a mighty punch in a small package. The 999.6cc 65° V-four cylinder engine makes 180 horsepower at 12,500 rpm. The V4 engine is capable of reaching engine speeds up to 14,100 rpm due to the compact size and oversquare cylinder layout. The adjustable geometry chassis allows the position and inclination of the headstock, the height of the swingarm pin and even that of the engine to be changed. The RSV4 uses a ride-by-wire system to control the electronic fuel injection and electronically controlled variable length intake ducts. To transfer the power to the rear tire a cassette gear box is mated to the engine, and a multi-disk wet clutch, with a mechanical slipper system, ensures stability during hard braking.
