Moto Guzzi has announced the arrival of the oh-so-sweet V7 Racer – it recently launched in Milan alongside the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 (Aprilia is Guzzi’s partner under parent Piaggio Group). This 2011 special and limited edition is based on the very popular V7 Clubman Racer which Guzzi had on display at the 2009 EICMA Milan show as a 2010 model – they were wrong about that, according to them. What we are offered now, though, is the same show-stopping homage to the V7 Sport race machine of the 1970’s. This iteration goes one step beyond that and steps into a museum piece for the road.
The chrome tank is probably from the future; Moto Guzzi claims that the finish is ‘an innovative metal particle deposition technology’ and sets a classic black leather strap right down the center to protect it. The frame, swingarm, and hubs of the silver and black wire-spoke wheels are a lustrous red
to recall the early V7 Sport models. From the technical side the V7 Racer is very close to the V7 Café with an oil-cooled 744cc fuel-injected 90° V-twin engine and high-end Italian braking and suspension components.
The production numbers will be low and each will be numbered, so you will need to get in contact with your dealer or Moto Guzzi to find out more. As of yet, no pricing has been announced, but there are specifications available on the Italian Moto Guzzi website – here. If you can acquire one for yourself, please take good care of it…the V7 Racer will be an instant classic. If my bank account actually starts counting up someday, maybe you could let me own it for a little while?

Love it.
I'd still want it if it only did 30mph.
