The world of alternative fuel gets more interesting everyday. More and more electric bikes are hitting the market and many people believe that they are the future of racing. But electricity isn’t the only alternative to gasoline. Motorcycles have tried their hands at solar energy, hydrogen-power, and now biodiesel.
Designed by Jordan Meadows, the Metalback motorcycle runs on biodiesel. The bike is still in the concept stage but promises to offer a much longer riding range than it’s eco-friendly counterpart, the electric motorcycle.
But the bio-diesel isn’t the only green aspect of the Metalback. It is also made of privately recycled materials. The Metalback uses recycled aluminum that has been treated with patina. This protects the bike from the elements, but also eliminates the need for paint.
The Metalback isn’t the first bike to use biodiesel though. The US and UK military
forces have been using modified Kawasakis for a few years now. Using Biodiesel allows the engine to run at lower RPMs. It also generally gives the engine a longer life.
