The vast openness of powdery white plains stretch out in front of you. A place that seems empty as far as the eye can see. A place so barren, it has been said, you can see the curvature of the earth.
But several times a year, this place roars to life as some of the fastest machines on earth come here. The place is Utah's famous Bonneville Salt Flats and this year, a new bike built with the flats in mind makes its debut.
Victory Motorcycles is introducing its quickest motorcycle ever produced in honor of the Victory Motorcycle Bonneville Salt Flats racer. The motorcycle is the Victory Vegas LE.
“We wanted to honor racers that have brought Victory Motorcycles to the Bonneville Salt Flats,” says Victory Product Manager Gary Gray. “Bonneville is one of the most harsh racing environments on the planet, and racers such as Gregor Moe, Laura Klock of Klock Works, Matt Waring of MBW and others have helped show the potential of our motorcycles to the world."
Built with classic lines that pay homage to the days of early salt flat racers, this unique limited edition motorcycle will feature a Freedom 106 cubic-inch, four-stroke 50° V-Twin blacked-out engine with stage two cams that will be putting out 97 horsepower and 113 ft/lb of torque. The Freedom 106 engine puts the power to the rear wheel through the six-speed transmission, and the carbon fiber reinforced belt. Just twist the throttle and release the beast - the staggered slash-cut dual exhaust will announce this brand new arrival.
The Victory Vegas LE will offer one of four limited edition color
schemes: Fire Ball Red, Competition Yellow, Pearl White or Turbo Silver. The color scheme will be carried throughout the motorcycle including the frame and swing arm.
“We started with our lightest bike and our largest most powerful engine and added a limited edition paint scheme to create a unique motorcycle, and we priced it aggressively,” Gray says.
Ordering of this limited edition motorcycle will close on February 15, 2010. Since no more than 100 will be built, Victory suggests those wanting to park one in their garage order as soon as possible. There’s no doubt, this rare beauty will go quickly.
