On Jan. 25, 2010, Chris Brull was officially promoted by the Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. to Marketing Director, replacing Bruce Stjernstrom, who recently resigned the post to pursue a new position at racing and marketing partner Monster Energy. Brull’s previous position at Kawasaki was Senior Advertising Manager.
Brull joined Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. in early 2009 as National Marketing Manager, but he had been working with the company, in one form or another, for more than 11 years by that time. He obviously has had a very long association with the American division of the Japanese marque, so he is quite familiar with their products and services, and where the brand stands in the market.
He originally started working in the D’Arcy, Masius, Benton & Boles firm, where he did work with numerous companies including Kawasaki. He soon moved to Foote Cone & Belding Worldwide, where he eventually took on Kawasaki full time for their U.S. national advertising campaigns. Having such responsibility required him to become very familiar with virtually every aspect of Kawasaki’s advertising, marketing and race operations on this side of the Pacific and likely much more.
Brull makes his home very near his new office in Orange County, Calif. He went to school in the state attending both San Diego State University and California State University so he can easily study his target demographic. And, with the promotion, he will likely have to travel to many AMA Monster Energy Supercross Kawasaki races – where he will also get to see his predecessor – and attend all sorts of promotional events. Brull will also have to spend time with factory riders such as Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed, Christophe Pourcel, and Rickey Gadsen and may even have to work with them on marketing projects. It will be work and play all at once. Do you think you will feel any pity for the guy? No, I didn’t think so.
He will need to work hard, though, as his new position is very high profile and there are many tough challenges ahead with the economic situation we are all in presently. Chris Brull’s promotion to the Director position is a perfect fit for someone so well-versed in every one of the products which make up the Kawasaki brand. Good luck Chris, “Let the good times roll.”
