Born of a time when a motorcycle was meant to be a raw, visceral machine, the café racer was created to take an aggressive stance with sleek trim, smooth, ready-to-ride handling and even more rock-and-roll performance.
Now, in spring 2010, Triumph will introduce a special edition Thruxton - a café-racer-style motorcycle that pays special homage to its brilliant, counterculture ancestors.
The Triumph Thruxton SE features modern design and technology providing today’s performance jam-packed into a sexy, retro package. The engine is an 865cc parallel fuel injected twin putting out 68bph with 51ft pounds of torque. Triumph has tuned this motorcycle to provide good power throughout the RPM range.
Triumph will also offer a full line of accessories to make this special edition motorcycle even more unique. By adding one of the exhaust options such as the Arrow 2 into 1 system or the Arrow 2 into 2 system, you give your Thruxton SE that special note that will make heads turn with whiplash inducing speed as you go by. The low-rise handlebars and the upswept megaphone-shaped pipes shout out a complete café racer package with enough power and vintage sex appeal for the modern-day rider.

Just imagine hopping on this revved up time machine with its low, tight handlebars and sleek, curvy gas tank stretched out in front of the seat. This classic machine fills the air with a unique exhaust note as the throttle is cracked wide open and the spring air pushes against your body. You and your motorcycle dive into a sweeper, you hit your mark dead on and as you approach the apex you open the throttle just a touch more. The front end of the motorcycle becomes a little lighter as the power is put down to the road. There’s a rush that goes over your body as you exit the turn and hit the straight and you think to yourself, "No doubt about it, this is going to be good day".
