AMA Press Release
Roy Denner, a long-time champion of off-road motorized access rights and founder of the Off-Road Business Association (ORBA), has passed away following an extended illness.
Mr. Denner became active in land-use battles as a member of the San Diego Off-Road Coalition in the 1990s as the organization's director of land use. He also was a member of the California Desert District Advisory Council and set on the technical review team for the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (ISDRA). Mr. Denner was named OHV Volunteer of the Year by the California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division in 1999.
Mr. Denner founded ORBA after the Endangered Species Act was used to close a large section of the ISDRA in 2000. The non-profit trade association was created so off-road business could work together to fight land closures and other efforts to attack the off-road motorized lifestyle.
Roy is survived by his wife Nancy of 52 years.
