In celebration of International Female Ride Day, AllAboutBikes is excited to introduce the Editor of LadyMoto.com, Jan Plessner. Jan is the former PR Manager for Kawasaki, a 23-year veteran of the powersports industry, and an advocate for women in motorcycling.
“I’d like to see LadyMoto.com play an integral part to move, inspire and enroll the millions of women currently sitting on the fence," says Plessner. "The number of females who ride should be significantly higher, There are many great motorcycles in the market that fit women and just as many legitimate options for protective and stylish riding gear.”
Under Plessner's direction, LadyMoto will highlight motorcycles and riding gear designed for women, feature inspiring stories of female riders, and generally promote the riding lifestyle among women. She aspires to increase the number of female motorcyclists in the United States through the LadyMoto brand.
"Jan’s in-depth experience and success in the powersports industry make her the perfect fit for our organization and the LadyMoto brand. Her passion for motorcycles and dedication to growing our industry is second to none. We are absolutely thrilled to have her on board,” said Julian Taylor, Publisher of AllAboutBikes.
The opportunity ahead of me working with Julian and the AllAboutBikes and LadyMoto.com team is something that I have dreamed of for years. I love the powersports industry and I hope I can really move the needle and drive some serous growth within the women’s market. It feels so overdue, yet it feels like there is no better time than right now," said Plessner.
Plessner recalls seeing "On Any Sunday" with her family as a child. The 1971 documentary film follows the lives of motorcycles racers and enthusiasts, including actor Steve McQueen. "If my Dad didn’t want me on a motorcycle, he should have never taken me to that movie."
