CruiserWorks is stomping into 2012 with a couple of key changes: they're moving their operations and they are moving the manufacture of their famous motorcycle boots to the USA. That's right, one of the best motorcycle boots you can buy will also be made in America now.
Cruiserworks at Kress Plaza
Headquartered in Salisbury North Carolina, CruiserWorks will be moving its operations into the historic Art Deco styled Kress Plaza designed by architect Edward F Sebbert. This is one of 200 buildings designed by the famed architect for the S H Kress & Company, which operated a chain of Five & Dime stores across the country from 1896 to 1981.
Think of S H Kress & Company as the predecessor of Wal-Mart. Alright, that's enough for our architectural and discount department store chain history lesson for today.
Cruiserworks in the USA
The second and by far most important change is CruiserWork boots are now "officially" 100% made here in the USA. This is the result of a partnership between CruiserWorks and the Weinbrenner shoe company which was started by Peter Weinbrenner in 1855. Skip Wood, CruiserWorks' new CEO, says that the manufacturing process of Weinbrenner is "detailed and complex". That's American craftsmanship for you!
The people at Cruiserworks are also a pleasure to deal with. According to photographer Skip Hunt: "With so many companies shipping jobs overseas, I want to support one that is keeping the work here, in the US...and the people I have dealt with at Cruiserworks have been the most amazing customer service representatives I think I've ever encountered."
Some of the hallmarks of CruiserWorks boots are features like protective Kevlar lining and premium full grain leather chemically treated to be weather resistant. Visit the Cruiserworks Home Page or check them on Facebook for more product information.
