Girl With the Dragon Tattoo's Motorcycle Stunt Cut For Insurance Reasons Hot

If you were expecting to see Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig in a high-speed motorcycle chase during "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," you're going to be disappointed. The highly anticipated stunt was scrapped because Director David Fincher couldn't find an insurance company to cover the risk of having new motorcyclist Rooney Mara whip through the streets with A-list actor Daniel Craig clinging to the back of her bike.

Mara did learn how to ride a motorcycle for the film but her new found skills weren't put to much use in the film.

"We put her on the plane to go to Stockholm by herself for five weeks to learn how to ride a motorcycle," said Fincher. "We so desperately wanted to do a scene with Daniel on the back of the motorcycle. (But) we couldn't get insurance for that if Rooney was gonna drive!"

Rooney Mara was pretty relieved, too, when she heard that she wouldn't have to do the stunt. Apparently Mara was perfectly fine with the simulated rape scene, the multiple tattoos, and appearing naked on screen, but riding a motorcycle made her a little uneasy.

"The motorcycle was the thing I really didn't want to do. You know, you're going to be raped, be naked... But as soon as [Fincher] said, 'You're going to have to ride a motorcycle,' I was like, 'Oh, really?..' It was all challenging but the motorcycle was the thing that I was the least excited about doing. It seemed very dangerous to me."

Mara still dons her leathers and rides a bike in the film, but those hoping for the big chase will be disappointed. Here's a trailer for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."
