A lot of noise has been made about electric motorcycles this year, but that isn't the only alternative fuel option around. A company in Australia is using compressed-air to power its "02 Pursuit" motorcycle.
Dean Benstead, a student at RMIT Industrial design, created the working prototype which will go on display at the Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter show later this month.
Benstead says that the 02 Pursuit, which uses running gears from a Yamaha WR240F and an Engineair DiPietro air engine, can hits speeds in excess of 60 mph.
"The concept evolved from research to sketches to computer modeling before the chassis and bodywork was built and fabrication at local manufacturer, Rinlatech Engineering, began," explained Benstead. "I wanted to explore the viability of compressed air as an alternative fuel, and my childhood experiences riding dirt bikes led me to design the motocross bike based around the Engineair engine."
Benstead isn't the first person to toy with a motorcycle fueled by compressed air. RMIT actually produced another pretty cool looking compressed-air motorcycle last year called the Green Speed Air.

Would you ride a compressed-air motorcycle?
