Everyone's favorite motorcycle gang will be back for at least one more year. FX announced today that the "Sons of Anarchy" has been renewed through the 2012 season.
A fifth season seems like an obvious choice for FX. "Sons of Anarchy" has seen a huge increase in viewership this year. According to Deadline, SOA is the No. 1 scripted drama series on basic cable with an average of 5.8 million viewers. The show is also the highest rated series ever on FX, and it's audience continues to grow.
The season four premier was the most watched program in FX history, and it kicked off a season that has averaged an increased viewership of 30% from season three.
"Everyone at FX is very grateful to Kurt Sutter, his many writing, directing and producing collaborators and his masterful cast for making such a compelling and beautifully crafted show," FX president John Landgraf said. "It is no small challenge to bring the themes of a great, ancient play like Hamlet into a wholly original television setting and to tell this complex story in a way that is both riveting and accessible to a broad audience."
"Sons of Anarchy" is only half way through its current season.
